Upward Basketball was the highlight of my life. Every year I looked forward to playing basketball for the church. I started playing basketball for Upward when I was 5 years old. I didn't miss a game or practice for 13 years. I loved going to practices because I felt safe. No one there was going to ridicule me or tell me that I wasn't good enough. My Upward coaches were always supportive, friendly, and Christ-like. I loved how we always sat down in the middle of practice to share prayer requests and share about God and his love for us. Upward was a big part of my spiritual life and helped me out a lot with my walk with God. When you intertwine God's word into a childs passion, they will listen more and get more involved in what you are saying. Every Bible story was relevent some how to basketball which made me remember the story longer and to this day I still remember some of the stories that were told to me in the Bible study. I think that Upward basketball is one of the greatest things that has ever happened to our church. I wouldn't trade those 13 years for anything. Now my little brothers play and I know that they are in a great Christian environment that will help them not only with basketball skills, but also with their walk with God. So this is just me saying thank you for everything Upward, you've really touched my life. God Bless.
