7 Upward Church Partners named as part of the 100 Fastest Growing Churches in America

Amid the uncertainties that 2020 has presented, we have seen God’s constant and faithful nature through the work He is doing in our church community. We at Upward Sports have seen many of our church partners adapt — whether it was shifting to online services, incorporating safety protocols, or offering outdoor gatherings. Despite the challenges, the power of the Gospel has shown to prevail and reach communities during this time of need. By that, we are encouraged and hope-filled to move forward!

We are so excited to congratulate seven of our current church partners who were listed among the 100 fastest growing churches in America in 2020. The list surveys church attendance from February through March (excluding Easter weekend) and compares congregation size with the previous year’s.

This year, the survey found that on top of God’s blessing, the fastest growing churches are mission-driven with an ability to pivot quickly to accommodate shifting circumstances

Although the list surveys church attendance before the pandemic, the highlighted churches have shown immense creativity and flexibility in the months following, from socially distant baptisms to online outreach. We know from our regular involvement with these churches that their mission is not to simply increase congregation size, but to further spread the name of Jesus and to serve the community. This new survey also underscores the benefit of Upward Sports to a church. The mission of our ministry is to help congregations reach their community with the gospel through athletics. And while there are a variety of factors that led to attendance growth among these churches, we believe our partnership helped. At Upward Sports, we believe that sports ministry has the power to spread the Gospel and to unite communities over the shared love for sports. We are grateful to be a ministry partner and are excited to continue walking alongside churches as they seek to further advance God’s Kingdom.
